Moncton – Staff and students at a school in Moncton, N.B., who raised more than $50,000 for a charity that helps less fortunate children have a better Christmas were rewarded with pizzas from Atlantic pizza chain Greco Pizza.

Lewisville Middle School students have been working throughout the school year since 2003 to raise the money for Christmas Daddies, Greco Pizza said in a news release. Their biggest fundraiser is their Halloween Bash but throughout the year they have theme days, bake sales and other small sales.

The eastern pizza chain praised teacher Gracia McGrath for taking the lead on the campaign year after year.

“When Tim Skinner of CTV told us about the amazing $50,000.00 milestone, we wanted to give something back to the students, something just for them,” said Don Moore, executive vice-president of Grinner’s Food Systems Limited, franchisor of Greco Pizza. “It was an easy decision to host a pizza party for the students on behalf of all Greco Pizza locations in Atlantic Canada.”

Moncton franchisee Barry MacMillian and his team delivered more than 80 pizzas to the students on Dec. 21 for a pizza party on the last day of school before their holidays.
